Michael Dexter-SmithMr. Dexter-Smith

Principal

Mr. Dexter-Smith has joined Northeast Business Partners to add brokerage capability to the “bow” of capabilities he brings his clients and to extend NEBP’s services in the software, biotech and computer hardware arenas, where he has considerable experience at a senior level.  Mike spent nine years with Price Waterhouse in the USA, UK and New Zealand (which he says “taught me a lot about international business generally”) and is now serving as President of ACAUS, the Association of Chartered Accountants in the United States.  He built on his accounting expertise running Xtremesoft Inc., a software company, and is general Partner at Pine Brook Ventures.  Mike has nurtured ideas and started new ventures in the social networking, retail, biotech infomercials and ads, as well as the ‘cloud’ computing arena.  He has participated in the public offering of two computer hardware companies; the sale of a company in the Biotech market and continues to nurture more businesses in a variety of markets.  He brings his strengths to bear in incubating an idea; then funding and nurturing it to later sell when the time is right.

Mr. Dexter-Smith consults with companies on positioning; on Boards; with CEOs; with families who own things jointly and with non-profits.  He adds a good understanding of the use of electronic networking to focus on adding value to every business, organization, process and interaction in which he participates.  After thirty years of hacking around in the business “weeds”, little surprises him.  As he says about small companies “its money and people, people and money”.   While not shy to say “I don’t know”, helping NEBP clients derive more value from a transaction is always his goal.
